The Association encourages the formation of Local Area Groups where Members can meet informally, and a number of such groups are in existence. Also, there are a growing number of groups which are interested in one line in particular. This page is devoted to them and organisers are invited to send any contributions to me for publication. Graham Chalmers, our Secretary, acts as Area Groups Co-ordinator. The Surrey, Trent Valley and Yorkshire Groups continue to be very active.County GroupsCheshire & South Manchester Area GroupThe Group meets on the Second Wednesday in every month at the Clubrooms of Macclesfield Model Railway Group, Black Road Community Centre, Macclesfield, by kind permission of the MMRG. Essex Area GroupHas eleven members and is currently constructing a layout. Exeter The Exeter O Gauge Group (EXGOG) are developing narrow gauge running facilities on 16.5 & 21 mm gauge in their own clubroom. Please contact David Taylor on 01392 493790. Hertfordshire Area GroupThis group of only three members meets regularly on the first Wednesday in the month, and new members would be very welcome. Kent Area GroupThis group is predominantly the 7mm Narrow Gauge section of the Chatham Model Railway Club, with four active members who are currently working on a new narrow & standard gauge layout which will be see on the exhibition circuit soon. NORTHAMPTON & DISTRICT NARROW GAUGE MODELLERS The group meets monthly on the evening of the third Thursday, usually in members' homes, but we usually miss out August due to the holiday season. Group members currently come from Northampton and surrounding villages, north Northamptonshire, and Rugby (there's usually 5 or 6 active participants), but we would welcome new members to help swell the numbers. We are fortunate to have retained in our numbers, members who have moved a considerable distance away from Northamptonshire, but naturally they are not able to participate very often in group activities due to distances involved. The group was initially set up about 3 years ago, if my memory serves me correctly, by local 009 Society members, but there were 7mm (and other scales) enthusiasts, myself included, amongst the founders. Some of us are also 7mm NGA members, and we are actively encouraging the smaller scale modellers to move up to the "senior" scale. Surrey Area Group - Brian CameronAn active group with 24 members who meet regularly.. Members can often be seen manning Association Stands at Exhibitions in and around the Southern part of England and many of the members are active in the Association committee! Every month, members receive their very own Surrey Times, a newsletter for the group. Sussex Area GroupMeets on a monthly basis in members' house and varies from 2 to 10 in numbers. South Downs (West Sussex) This group is predominantly the 7 mm NG section of Bognor Model Railway Club.
