Annual General Meeting & Convention 2002 - Saturday May 11th

The whole day was very successful, the sun shone and we had the best ever attendance at an Annual General Meeting. 149 members signed the register and about 60 members of the public joined in the fun. A big thank you to everyone who attended and to the Trent Valley Group led by Phil Traxson and Tim Allsopp for putting on an excellent exhibition. Thanks should also be given to all the exhibitors and traders for attending. The catering was organised by some of the Trent Valley ladies and the Charlesworth family. Both sales stands had excellent days. We were also pleased to hear from Grant McAdam about the latest Narrow Gauge news from Australia amongst the Area Group reports.

In the Annual General Meeting, the Committee Report & Accounts were adopted and John Stokes was appointed as Auditor for the current year. Thank you to David Broome for approving the accounts. The following were elected or appointed to serve for the forthcoming year: -

David Broome was nominated at the meeting as Publicity Officer as David Turley withdrew his nomination, before the AGM. I would like to thank David Turley for his many years of service as Publicity Officer and I am pleased that he will continue with his role as Data Protection Officer.

Keith Millard was elected as President for a further year. On behalf of the Association, Philip Moss presented Howard Clarke with a special award, in recognition of his outstanding service to the Association over the last 21 years. This award was in the form an Agenoria small Hunslet in 'Cambridge Blue' called 'Howard', which we are sure will spend many hours in Blakecaster station.

The Association Award was presented to Steve Bennett (Black Dog Mining Company) for demonstrating that 7mm NG modelling need not take up a lot of space and for improving the reputation of cast resin kits.

At the AGM, we were advised by Howard Clarke that Margaret Axson (widow of Mervyn) had sadly passed away quite recently

Howard Clarke Theme Trophy for 2003.

The theme will be 'Up the Junction'. The only rule is that the diorama must contain at least one point of any style.
